The next promise given to me in the Blessing was a biggie. It has brought me closer to the Lord and helped me understand how essential it is to understand the Holy Ghost and the spiritual side of my mortal soul.
I was advised that "There were many of my departed loved ones who were relying on me as one of their posterity, who would provide the saving ordinances of the gospel for them. My life has been prompted along this Genealogically Challenging walk.
Pres. Thomas S. Monson has told us ..." You and I , the members of the church were generals in the War in Heaven", at the time Satan was cast out by those who chose Christ's Plan. One day, when you part the veil and return to the Spirit World, you will be enthralled by those with who you are associated. Your worthy dead ancestors will be standing before you.
You will ask someone in which time period they lived and you might hear "I was with Moses when he parted the Red Sea", or "I helped build the pyramids" or " I fought with Capt. Moroni".
As you are standing there in amazement, someone will turn to you and ask in which prophet's time period you lived. When you say, " Howard W. Hunter" or "Pres. Hinkleys" ,a hush will fall over every hall and corridor in Heaven and all in attendance will bow at your presence. Your generation were held back 6000 years because you were the most talented, most obedient, most courageous and the most righteous in the war in Heaven. ARE YOU STILL?
Ezra Taft Benson: "Each day the forces of evil and the forces of good enlist new recruits. Each day we personally make many decisions showing the cause we support. The final outcome is certain --the forces of righteousness will win. But what remains to be seen is where each of us personally, now and in the future, will stand in this battle --and how tall we stand. Will we be true to our last days and fulfill our foreordained missions?" (Ensign, Sep 1988, p2)
Spencer W. Kimball gives us an account of a vision he had : "The Book of Life (see Revelation 20:12) will show the earthly activities of all of us, and the "BOOK OF THE ANGELS" , will give the entire story of every man and what he did in the light and in the shadows, in the open and in the corners, all that is said in the secret places and from the housetops, all that was thought and expressed, whether good or bad. There will be no escape. The honest judge will give full value to all for their good works and will not overlook the other." (Teachings of Spencer W. Kimball, p46)
Many stories of my life that can be tied into these blessings, have been written in my memoirs and will be included in more detail later
Last but most importantly, I was blessed to go to the temple and be sealed up to come forth in the first resurrection along with my family and forefathers, contingent upon my obedience to the principals of the Gospel.
As the blessing in 1962 first started, I was promised to know which of the twelve tribes I was descended from. For some reason the Patriarch as he gave the blessing was not prompted to tell me my lineage at that time, even after the promise. This was a little unsettling to me and I spent more that one moment wondering why the lord had with held my lineage.
As I have thought about whether I could have been adopted or not, by Lester and Myrtle Eytchison, it has finally come clear to me that time needed to pass. If I was sealed up (linked to)as a daughter of Myrtle and Lester, my sealing line would be slightly different than if I did not take the "Genealogical Challenge" I was born to.
The sealing ordinance to be done, were contingent upon whether I met that Genealogical Challenge and provided the linkage, that Ancestral Chain, of this still unlinked family.
A few years ago our Patriarch in Texas gave me a blessing for health and in so doing he was prompted to give me the missing information about my my lineage. As it worked out,
I am descended from Ephriam, a descendant of Joseph of the coat of many colors. Because of my accepting Christ as my Savior, I have been adopted into the house of Israel, as was promised to father Abraham.
Whether I was indeed adopted by Myrtle and Lester Eytchison, or not, in mortality, is not significant in this point in time. My husband, myself and our posterity, have been sealed together for eternity by the Lord, and we have been sealed to our parents,and so on back as far as I have found the linkage. All of this so we can all to come forth in the first resurrection, if the work we have done here on earth is worthy to be justified by the Holy Ghost, that Holy Spirit of Promise. The records of our works here on earth have been written in the Book of Life as they happened, and passed upon by the Justifier.
The linking of our family in the great ancestral chain, is well on it's way to being accomplished. Much of "The Book of Remembrance" for our family, has been placed upon the alter, with the linkage and eternal sealings, a sacrifice to our Savior.
A final blessing that was promised me: "...times of concern are at hand, but your life will be spared to accomplish your full measure in creation." Was a large portion of my measure in creation doing the family history? I have no doubt that the family history was a major part of it. In fact I have had insight that that is one of the things that has kept me here as I have endeavored to find my ancestors and to help others find theirs also.
As I have battled cancer this past twelve years, I have truly had my life spared . I have a favorite scripture (insert): We are reassured that when we are ill, or being tried otherwise, if we have the faith to lay it before the lord, we can be blessed or healed, unless we are appointed unto death. I have been given that great blessing, many times over. I never cease to be astonished, that I have been spared ...until my time is appointed.
This tired body may be getting old and infirmed but because of my understanding of God the father, Jesus my elder brother and the Holy Ghost, my spirit still soars and flies.
